The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has reaffirmed Africa’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism and the international rule of law.
He made the statement while addressing a high-level debate at the United Nations Security Council in New York. The AUC Chairperson emphasized that multilateral cooperation remains the most effective approach to addressing global challenges, including conflict, climate change, and economic instability.
H.E. Youssouf stressed Africa’s strong support for a rules-based international order founded on fairness, inclusiveness, and respect for international law. He also called for reforms in global governance institutions to ensure equitable representation, particularly for Africa.
The Chairperson reiterated the African Union’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, respect for sovereignty, and the implementation of Agenda 2063, while pledging continued constructive engagement with global partners.
